The capital’s best free events from Oct 6th-12th
Happy Monday {{ first name | Cheapskater }},
Welcome to our weekly roundup of the best free events in London! It’s my birthday this week, so I’m extra excited to spend the week experiencing all that London culture has to offer (keep an eye on the Cheapskate Instagram to see what I get up to 👀)
In other news, huge thanks to all of you who sent in your autumn/winter culture recs last week. I particularly loved the sound of this free exhibit about queer theatre, as well as The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy Live (both launching in Nov). It’s always great to see that our readers are as enthusiastic about London’s incredible cultural scene as we are!
Have a great week,
Clementine x
PS: Congrats to our reader Jenny K, as well as Cheapskate club member Sadaf Z, who each won a pair of tickets to New Scientist Live (as featured in last week’s email).
🧡 On that note, please consider supporting us by joining the Cheapskate club today - it’s currently 50% off! As a thank you, you’ll get automatic entry into all of our weekly competitions, plus access to regular supporter-only competitions. You’ll also help us keep this tiny, independent media brand afloat! 🧡

Did you know that half of all the world’s languages are at risk of extinction in the next 75 years? Voiced: The Festival for Endangered Languages at the Barbican is shining a spotlight on this through talks, performances & workshops held by speakers of languages like Welsh, Canadian Inuktituk & Tamajaght.
One lucky Cheapskate reader will win a pair of festival tickets (worth £40 each). These tickets are valid for all three days of live performances, from Thurs Oct 16th-Sat 18th.
To be in with a chance of winning, get someone you know to subscribe to Cheapskate by sending them this link (it contains your personalised referral code): {{rp_refer_url}}. Once they’ve signed up, you’ll be entered into the draw.
For those who don’t win, free exhibits & The Endangered Voices Listening Trail are running until the end of the month.

👓 The team’s fave sunglasses brand is currently offering 2-for-1 on these frames using the code SUN2X1. I’ve got my eye on this rather daring pair, while Kate is eyeing up (excuse the pun) this also quite out-there number.
🍽️ There are lots of food & drink deals happening in London this week:
Liu Xiaomian is marking National Noodle Day with 2-for-1 noodle bowls at the Carnaby Street location on Tues, Weds & Thurs
It’s National Curry Week, so Putney Indian restaurant Chook Chook is offering buy one get one free on all curries with the code ‘MAHARAJA EXPRESS’
Pasta Evangelists is opening a new restaurant on New Oxford Street, so there’s free prosecco on offer for all diners until the end of Oct
Grandparents dining with their grandchildren at any London Bella Italia (excluding Paddington) will receive £30 off their bill this Weds
TrueStart is giving away free cups of coffee in Holborn on Thurs from 7-10am, in London Bridge on Thurs from 12-3pm, in Vauxhall on Fri from 7-10am, & in Euston on Fri from 12-3pm
✈️ I stayed at Yotelair Gatwick Airport the other week, & can confirm it’s a total game-changer for an early flight. Compact but clever, it’s got everything you need (comfy bed, proper shower, great Wi-Fi) & best of all, you don’t even have to leave the terminal building - it’s right by the train station & just a quick shuttle from the North Terminal. Yotelair’s “slayover kits” are also a lot of fun. - Kate
💰 If you love a discount/deal, don’t miss Prime Deal Day - it kicks off at midnight this Tues (7th Oct). Georgia’s planning to buy this Ring Doorbell Camera (it’s 60% off), while a very organised Kate is going to get this Lumie Alarm Clock as a Christmas pressie (it’s 19% off!).
💪 Want to try ClassPass & get access to hundreds of gyms & classes across London? Here’s an exclusive one-month trial (with a whopping 72 credits to use) for free!
