The capital’s best free events from September 1st-7th

Happy Monday {{ first name | Cheapskater }},

Welcome to another week of diverse free events across the capital! We try to attend the events we feature as often as we can, so I was really pleased to go to the Amplify Her open mic night last week. It was amazing to watch incredible female musicians showcasing their talent, as well as meeting some glorious Cheapskate subscribers IRL!

Big congrats to our reader Phoebe E, who won a copy of the new cookbook Speedy Comfort (as featured in last week’s email). Scroll down for your chance to win a scrumptious meal for four(!) at Burger & Lobster 🍔🦞

Have a great week,
Clementine x

🗓️ Weds 3rd Sep, 6-9pm

📍Wandsworth Common

THURSDAY

🎨 Symmetrical lines

Korean American artist Suzanne Song is holding her first UK exhibit, at White Cube Mason’s Yard. Her work features geometric lines, optical illusions & soft pastels, & tends to be super dreamy to look at.

🌀 Surrealist late

Tate Britain is less well-known for its lates than its Modern friend downriver, but this one inspired by surrealists Ithell Colquhoun & Edward Burra sounds enticing (we like the look of the Sirens roleplaying workshop).

Brassworks is a barnstorming festival of all things brass band at Woolwich Works. Plus, if you have an old trumpet or trombone in the attic that needs dusting off, you can showcase your skills at an open rehearsal.

📍Ladbroke Grove

And for dessert...

👓 Summer may nearly be over, but the summer sale at Meller is still on. Buy one of these retro-inspired cat-eye frames, & get another pair (of any style!) free.

🎭 This week is the last chance to catch Rachel Zegler performing ‘Don’t Cry For Me Argentina’ for free from the Palladium balcony by Oxford Circus station. Evita tickets are super pricey, so we recommend using Twickets to find seats (if you fancy watching more than just the balcony scene!).

💳 Want a credit card with all the glamorous rewards you’d associate with Amex, with none of the hassle? Try Yonder: every month, you can receive specially curated discounts & offers on anything from neighbourhood wine bars to holidays abroad. You’ll need to be over 18 & a UK resident to apply.

🍝 Bottega 35, a new Tuscan spot opening up in Kensington, is offering 30% off all food & drink from Monday until 30th Sept.

🥃 Chinatown hotspot Noodle & Beer is transforming its downstairs into a “Secret Negroni Bar” this month. To kick things off, the first 50 diners to order a main meal on 4th Sept will get a free Negroni cocktail of their choosing.
